FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

RENT IS MORE AFFORDABLE AT NORTH COMMONS

State and federal programs place a cap on how high we can set our rents, so while rates may shift, we will always be required to keep rents affordable for households at or below certain income limits (which are dictated by annually published area median income limits).

What are the eligibility requirements?

To be eligible for an apartment at North Commons, an applicant household’s gross annual income must be disclosed, verified and reviewed to ensure the household meets the corresponding state and federal program restrictions for the apartment they’ve chosen. Learn more on the "Apply" page.

What do we mean by "gross annual income"?

This takes into account income from all sources earned for household members 18+. That’s before taxes and deductions. We also need to know about all unearned income for each household member, regardless of age. Unearned income includes alimony and child support, as well as income from assets, investments and real estate owned. Learn more on the "Apply" page.

Can I rent if I am a full-time student?

Households comprised entirely of full-time students may need to identify an exception to the state and federal program(s) rules regarding student households. Contact us for more details.

How can I apply?

Applications can be completed online, here on our website, by clicking on the "Apply" link in the top menu. Applications can also be requested over the phone to be mailed/e-mailed and then returned via mail, e-mail or in-person. Details on this can be found on the "Apply" page.
